Resurrection Week Kicks off with Palm Sunday
Redeeming Life,
Resurrection Week, otherwise know as Passion Week, starts this Sunday. It's Palm Sunday and it gets its name from the day Jesus entered Jerusalem to the fanfare of most of the city. They were waiving palms branches and laying them down (along with their coats) on the road like we might use the red carpet. (Read about it in Luke 19:28-40, Matthew 21:1-11, Mark 11:1-14, and John 12:12-19.) Pastor Brett is preaching a message to us from this event. He'll also show us how quick the people turned on Jesus, crucifying him before the week was out.
On Friday, March 25th, at 6:30pm in the Northwest Community Center, Pastor Jared will preach a Good Friday message as part of our Good Friday worship service. This will be a short service with integrated music and teaching that should drive the worshiper to see Christ's work on the cross. We'll also take communion together.
On Sunday, March 27th at 8:00am (Easter morning), we'll celebrate the resurrection in Riverside Park at the Lions Terrace Pavilion. As the sun is coming up, we'll remember we have hope because Jesus defeated death. Pastor Jared will share a message of hope and the reason we celebrate.
Then a little later that same morning (11:00am) we'll gather for a celebration at the Northwest Community Center where I'll preach a message on the resurrected life. As part of our celebration we'll fellowship, sing, share in the Lord's Supper, and hear from the Lord. I suspect there will probably also be pictures taken of kids in matching spring-colored clothing. In addition, we also have the possibility to conduct baptisms. If you are interested in following the Lord in believer's baptism, please let me know.
It is my hope you plan on joining us for a week of celebration. We are inviting our community to join us. Please don't hesitate to invite your friends, neighbors, co-workers, and family to join us in celebrating our Risen Lord!
Finally, we've had a lot going with the mission teams on and have a lot more coming up. Here's a brief video that covers some of it.
May God bless you abundantly this week!
Pastor Bryan
