God wants to have a loving relationship with us, but we have turned our back on God. The Bible calls this sin. Because of our sin, we have no peace with God. The punishment for sin is death and an eternity apart from God. The Bible calls this hell. But God sent His one and only Son, Jesus Christ, to live a sin-free life, die on the cross for our sins, and conquer death by raising back to life on the third day.
We can have salvation from sin and be adopted into God's family only through Jesus Christ. This salvation is free gift of God. However, in order to enter into a loving relationship with God, He asks that you do the following:
Admit: Admit that you have sinned against God. Romans 3:21-26 says we've all fallen short of His expectations.
Believe: Believe that Jesus is who He says He is. He is the Son of God and the Savior of the World. John 1:1-18 says that all who believe in His name will be given the right to become children of God.
Confess: Confess that Jesus is Lord. Romans 10:5:-17 says if you confess that Jesus is Lord, you will be saved. This means you let God call all the shots. You trust and obey Him in all areas of your life.
To do this, you need to have a conversation with God. It's called prayer. Find a quiet spot and start talking to God. Admit, believe, and confess.
Here's another presentation of the gospel:
This is a simple presentation, but it’s helpful. Even as Christians, we find ourselves in brokeness from time to time. Yet Jesus, continues to provide the path out of brokeness, every day, every hour, even every minute. It’s the Christian life to continually abide in Jesus and return to God’s design. The first time a person turns to Christ, it’s salvation. After that, it’s called sanctification. A person who is a new creation can’t lose his or her salvation but that does not mean we don’t need Christ to sustain, protect, and preserve us.
The best presentation of the Gospel comes from the Bible itself. This presentation walks though what the Bible says the good news is. Watch this video and use the Scripture references to read for yourself what God’s Word, the Bible says is the gospel.
One challenge with our response to the gospel comes when we’ve heard a presentation of it that’s not actually what the Bible says. Sometimes, people reject an explanation of the gospel or Jesus that is not accurate. Or maybe even worse, there are times when people accept a misrepresentation of Jesus or the Gospel and falsely believe he or she is a Christian. Here’s a detailed discussion of the gospel as it is taught in the Bible that’s worth serious consideration.
Here’s still another presentation of the Gospel. This one is a bit more artsy but still, a good presentation of the good news of Jesus Christ:
The gospel of Jesus Christ is both simple, in that anyone can understand and follow Jesus but it’s also complex. It’s a big story. Admittedly, these simple presentations are the path to start following Jesus but it’s only the beginning. The big story of the Bible is about the creation, the fall of humanity into sin, the redemption (or rescue), and restoration of God’s people back to himself. It’s a beautiful story with Christ in the center.
We'd love to chat with you and pray for you. The Christian life is not intended to be a lonely journey. Come worship Jesus with us!
