A Call to Prayer in the Darkness
Redeeming Life Faith-Family,
You've seen the news, and by now, you've heard. Jeremy shot and killed Nathan and seriously injured Natalie, before ending his own life.
For us, this is not just a passing news story in the nightly line up. We've worshipped with Jeremy, Natalie, and their three girls. We've prayed for and with them. We've broken bread together and eaten burgers at BBQs. You've ministered to their kids in children's ministry. Maybe you've lost to Jeremy at men's poker, especially if you were there the month he took home the trophy. You might have been the girl's scout leader. We worked on cars together, trick-or-treated together, and we’ve been neighbors.
Nathan cracked open a Bible in a study with Pastors Brett and Bryan. He joined us for worship services, even if only for a couple of months. And in all the ups and downs, we never stopped praying for him or the Harris family.
Today, we need to pray for them even more.
Please pray for the three Harris girls. No child should ever have to experience the depths of this kind of brokenness. Please pray for Natalie as she recovers physically and emotionally. Pray for Nathan's children. Pray for the families of everyone involved. Pray for the neighborhoods where Jeremy and Nathan lived. A gray cloud has settled in these places, but the Light of Christ can shine brightly.
Church, pray for us, as a church. Acts 17:26-27 teaches that God has placed us where we live so that others might feel their way toward God and find him. Pray for that. And pray that we can be the Light of Christ, shining into the darkest night.
And please remember to keep our Pastor and his family, the Cathermans, in your prayers. They and the Harris family were friends. Their kids played together. Bryan and Lisa have been ministering to this family since they moved to Rose Park. The Catherman family needs our prayers too.
Please, Redeeming Life, this is a call to prayer. Let us join together and pray.
