Behind the Hymn, "Praise God From Whom All Blessings Flow (Doxology)"
Thomas Ken’s hymn, “Praise God From Whom All Blessings Flow,” or otherwise knows as “Doxology,” is a classic hymn that has been incorporated into many other worship songs. Pastor Robbie Tschorn takes a few minutes to share some of the backstory as well as some Scripture that we should reflect on when we think about and sing this worship song.
While you may have sung songs with the doxology in them, Thomas Ken’s 1674 lyrics are just a chorus.
Praise God from whom all blessings flow
Praise Him all creatures here below
Praise Him above ye heavenly host
Praise Father Son and Holy Ghost
Amen
At Redeeming Life Church, we’ll sing worship songs with Thomas Ken’s lyrics in them. We hope that knowing more about the song will help you worship God more deeply. We’ll be singing a variation of Doxology this Sunday. There are many variations. “New Doxology” is one example.
