Worship Services in Ukrainian
We weren't sure what God was doing when he brought a Ukrainian refugee couple with theological training through our doors in Bountiful, Utah, but as we got to know them and their story, we could tell God was up to something. Both were final thesis papers away from graduating seminary in Poltava when Russia crossed the border and changed everything. As we got to know them more, we watched church services from their home church in Ukraine, thanks to modern technology. Our Pastor and their Pastor connected. We rallied to help them with transportation needs and welcomed them into our faith family as members (after they participated in our new members' class).
Not too long ago, another Ukrainian family visited our church’s worship service. They returned for our NextGen (youth) night and an adult Bible study. A discussion kicked up about language, worship, and Bible study. From there, we hatched a plan to help those still learning English participate in Ukrainian.
A translation transmitter system is on its way. Our preachers will provide a translator with a full manuscript in advance so the translator can translate the sermon, Scripture reading, prayers, and announcement of ministries to an earpiece worn by those who need to hear in Ukraine. We may also have a Bible study in Ukrainian or both Ukrainian and English.
We're not entirely sure where this might be headed, so we ask that you pray. Pray for the Ukrainians in Utah, worldwide, and especially those still in Ukraine. Pray that this translation system will work well. Pray for those who may have a ministry to offer a translation for those in need. And pray for more opportunities to glorify God and share his Gospel in our community.
If you'd like to help beyond prayer, you can donate to our Mission Support Fund, which may be used to provide meals, resources, and other efforts to reach Ukrainian people in Utah. Or you can give to our Acts 11 Fund, which may be used to help refugees in need get on their feet and then get established in our community, all to God's glory.
