“Who Can Stand?” (Revelation 6:1-7:17)
In his sermon titled, “Who Can Stand?” (Revelation 6:1-7:17), Pastor Bryan Catherman explores John’s vision of the breaking of the first 6 of seven seals on the scroll taken from the hand of the one on the throne. As the Lamb who is worthy opens each scroll, a scene plays out. Each episode moves the reader closer and closer to a remarkable question uttered by those under judgement: “Who Can Stand?” Chapter seven answers that question.
The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, or the Riders of the End Times as they are sometimes called, is a controversial subject. Who or what is the represented by the rider of the white horse, or the rider on the black horse, and so-on. What is meant by the names Death and Hades? Who are the saints hiding under the alter when the fifth seal is opened? Is this figurative or literal? When do the events of the opening of the seven seals happen? Many Christians have many opinions. But as Pastor Bryan attempted to preach, the chief point is that there a coming judgement and there is a Savior. Who can stand the judgement? How do they do it?
